Welcome to Disability Information Services Kent (DISK), providing information services to disabled residents of Kent, United Kingdom.
Closure of Disability Information Services Kent (DISK)
On behalf of the staff and committee of DISK we thank you for using the service over the past 27 years. Unfortunately over the past few years funding has become a major problem for us and the Covid pandemic has not helped. It is with deep regret that we have had to close the service from the 18th March 2022.
Some of the services previously provided by DISK will continue but done by Centre for Independent Living Kent 01233 633187, your local Citizens Advice Bureau, CROP for older clients.
The fact-sheets show the current rates for 2022/3 and we hope that these help you understand the main disability and care benefits. If you are looking at claiming Universal Credit the complexity of this benefit is not easily explained in a fact-sheet. The best option is to use one of the benefit calculators as this will look at your income and that of your partner if you have one, housing costs for the purpose of Council Tax and Housing Benefit. The one that we have always used is www.entitledto.co.uk for Universal Credit. For Pension Credit use the gov.uk calculator that comes up on your preferred search engine.
Kent County Council prefer you to make application for a blue badge online but if you cannot do this you can ask them to send you a paper form 03000 416262 or use the link on our site to download the current form they use.
